Choir 2010-2011 is beginning a new season and opened to ALL children in
the parish from 4th grade on up. The Youth Choir will begin the year
Sept 12, for the Special 60th Anniversary Mass at 9am. After this
special Mass, the Youth Choir will sing for the 11:30 am Family Mass
every Sunday. Rehearsals will begin on Thursday Sept 9, in the Church.
For St Ignatius students: 3:15 to 4:15 and for non-St Ignatius students:
3:30-4:15. The later time is for the convenience of parents to pick
there child up at other schools and bring them to the rehearsal. Thank
you!!
Cantor Workshop: I am proud to announce that a colleague and dear friend
of mine, Cecile Schofield will be vacationing on island to present a
Cantor Workshop for our Cantors and Musicians here at Saint Ignatius.
This workshop will take place in the Church on Saturday, Sept 18, from
10am to 1pm. The workshop is open to participants and observers alike.
Cecile, was a Soloist and member of the Choir at St Josephs Church in
Newport, RI for over 17 years. For 7 years, she was the full time Cantor
there. Since moving to Lady, Lake Florida, Ms. Scofield has continued
her music ministry at St. Paul‟s Catholic Church in Leesburg, Florida,
where she is a member of the choir, chamber choir, handbell choir, and
serves as a Cantor for funerals. She is also a member of the
Ressurection Choir at her church and has vast experience singing for
other religious denominations as well. Please let me know if you would
like to attend this workshop.
A Special Thank you to everyone who participated in the Music Program
over the summer. I know that so many people leave Island during the
summer and I am so grateful to all who were here and participated
namely; the Cantors, the 8:00 am Adult Choir, Joe who continuously was
here to cover for absent Cantors, the SFC/CFC and Living Hope Community
that are with us at the 11:30 am Mass. A very special thanks to Butch,
for always being available for both 8am and 11:30 am Mass to play the
Bongo Drums and Percussion; Harry Cupid who always gives so much of his
time as bongo drummer for years; Dong Osuyos who very bravely covered
all the 11:30 Masses as Cantor till the Youth Cantors returned this
week; Jher-winn Araneta for choosing and planning such uplifting
meditation Hymns each week, and Rolly Averia the 11:30am Keyboardist.
You are all very well appreciated by me and everyone here. Thank you
again!!
Youth Cantor: Constanza Corcoran will be the Youth Cantor this week,
Sept 5 at the 11:30am Mass. Constanza is a student here at St Ignatius.
